Stuart Turner "Sandhurst"

Sandhurst was machined from a set of old and rusty Stuart
Turner castings. It is not a model
of any engine but was developed by Stuart Turner to be
a working engine. The bore is 2" with a 3" stroke.
The flywheel is 1-3/8" thick by 9" diameter. I made
my own design centrifugal water pump, fan, radiator, 2-jet pumping
throttle carburetor, ball muffler, belt driven ignition generator,
magnetic pick up transistor ignition system and oak truck. The
truck wheels which match the flywheel were purchased used at the
Portland, Indiana engine show for "some future project".
It wasn't until a few years later that I aquired the Sandhurst
engine castings from a fellow in Texas! The engine was the cover
photo on the June 1999 issue of Gas Engine Magazine, along with
an article.
